Hello guys i'm back! Today is all about Landscape Architecture. If you do not know what landscape architecture is, it is exactly what it sounds like, The design of public or environmental areas. This form of architecture has been around for ages since the 1700’s to be exact. Landscape architecture has shown people that even the natural world can be designed and organized as well as buildings can and doesn’t have to just be there when you walk outside.

If you want to see a good deal of landscape architecture, I would definitely recommend the Fairchild tropical botanic garden. It is huge and has many places to see. They have different areas where you can visit and even have them divided by different biomes such as desert, rainforest, etc... They have many different plants and art decorations displayed and if you look closely you may find a few weird animals you may never normally see.

Landscape architecture has a long history so it's no surprise that it has changed and evolved over time. Today there are six main parts of landscape architecture (Site planning, urban design, land development, parks and recreation, ecological and environmental design, and heritage conversion)

Site Planning- Organization process and determining the appearance of land site
Urban Design-shaping the physical setting for communities
Land Development-The altering of a landscape
Parks and Recreation- design of parks, open spaces, and recreational areas
Ecological and Environmental design- modifying public areas with existing natural space
Heritage Conversion- The protection of landmarks and historical sites or items

Hello guys I’m back with another Sunday blogging and today is all about home décor, mainly DIY’s.
I absolutely love DIY’s they are super easy to make and most of all cheap. DIY is the new trend in home décor and has taken the world by storm. DIY’s if I’m being honest just make life simpler.  They have become so popular among people because it showed everyone that they don’t have to spend an arm and a leg to have nice home décor, just grab a few old home items and a pair of scissors and get creative!

My experiences with DIY's have been great and I have no complaints whatsoever about them.

Displaying IMG_0476.JPG This is one of my favorite DIY's because it helped me with organization in my bedroom. As you can see I have a chalkboard in my room. The chalkboard came with magnetic chalk holders that unfortunately did not really work as they constantly fell off the chalkboard breaking the chalk. To fix this problem I simply took an empty coca-cola bottle and cut it into a simple cup shape, labeled it chalk, and pinned it to my wall this has helped keep my chalk in order and organized and I don't have to worry about them constantly falling.

I also really love this DIY which is a Shoe-box desk organizer. This was so much fun to make and although it took a long time it was worth it because it looks great.

The last DIY I wanted to show you guys is a decorative sand DIY
Displaying IMG_0482.jpgThe "sand" holder I have on the left is also made from two Coca-cola bottles (  Yes I know, I drink a lot of soda (; I can't help it) they are actually two bottle tops that are hot glued facing each other. I used blue tape to cover the where I hot glued them together. The holder on the right is simply made from a jelly jar. The reason I put quotation marks on "sand" is because a lot of people actually go out and buy sand which can get expensive sometimes. You can go out and get sand but if you're like me, you would DIY that as well. My "sand" is actually salt and sugar colored with blue and green food coloring. When you color your sugar or sand please make sure they are completely dry because if you don't they will do just like mine and the colors will blend. I would recommend you let them dry overnight.

There's so many things people can do with DIY's and my motto for my DIY's is "when life gives you lemons make apple juice" otherwise meaning do the impossible.

Image result for Cayan TowerThe time has finally come to talk about ARCHITECTURE!!!  Architecture is so fascinating to me because it’s the first thing we humans see when we wake up in the morning yet, we don’t think much of it. From the wall shapes on the inside of a home to why one space is bigger or smaller than another, architecture plays a huge role in modern life. Architecture is what attracts people to places as it is most pertains to the outside view of a home or building. Modern cities today have very eccentric styles of art now as many buildings are having wild shapes and with the technologies we have now the sky is the limit with architecture. There are many different aspects of architecture such as built environment, urban planning, urban design, and landscape architecture. These categories stretch basically across everything in the world and show that architecture can be involved in almost every design aspect.

This is the Cayan Tower from Dubai.
Not only is it one of the tallest buildings
in the world at 306 meters or 73 stories,
it is one of the only buildings in the world
that turns 90 degrees as it goes upward.

I’m from Miami,Fl and one of our most famous forms of architecture is the “Art Deco” style. Art Deco came about in the 1920’s in Paris and it spread across the world because it was so different and Miami has made it very well-known and continues to implement it in building designs.

This building is part of Miami's art deco district and is huge tourist attraction here.

I also love the art deco style and decided to get in a design myself

Here is one of my Art Deco designs. This was actually the first Art Deco home I ever made and I feel proud of it.
This is model I made from Tinkercad.com Tinkercad allows its users to create any crazy shapes they want to and in the end the user can even 3D print their designs like so. I use Tinkercad a lot and would recommend it for anyone.

If you want to use Tinkercad for future designs in mind here's a video with a few tips on how to get started

First lets talk about interior design. Interior design is so fascinating to me because of how creative a person can get with it. From fancy embroideries to décor made from shoe boxes, a person can include almost anything that comes to mind when designing. I personally base my interior designing on the emotional components of colors or on the way colors make a person feel.
i.e Displaying IMG_0171.jpg
In this living room I designed with the app Autodesk Homestyler, I used the color orange as orange is makes a person enthusiastic with its brightness yet the color a little aggressive but not as aggressive as the color red.

In this living room I also i designed I used the color Purple as it is usually interpreted as "Royal" or "elegant" I used the blacks and whites in the background as they are great accent colors and really help the Purple pop.

Interior design is admired by many people as it allows people to express themselves without even having to speak words, they let their design speak for them. It has even been shown that interior design can help with a person’s health and even work ethic with the appropriate décor. Home designing speaks many volumes and has really impacted our world today. From writing on walls with rocks in caves to now having incredibly elegant fabrics to put in houses and business buildings, mankind has taken a large step in the design world and I am honestly honored to be able to speak about it.

Psst!! Want to know more about Autodesk Homestyler? Here's the vid for you. Enjoy!!

Welcome to my blog! I am Derrick Martin, a sophomore at iTech magnet school in Miami, Florida.

The goals I have from this blog is to show my architecture and interior design skills. My love for architecture and interior design started when I was in the 6th grade. I remember helping my dad put sand and concrete over some exposed pipes around my house. I remember waking up the next day and wanting to do the process over again although it was very exasperating. After that happened, I remember helping my aunt take out the carpet in her room then getting a chance to pick her flooring and her paint for her room; I even painted the room. Ever since I have been in love with Architecture and interior design. Throughout the blog I will be posting and showing my architecture and interior design skills that I made with programs such as Tinkercad.com, and Autodesk homestyler. I really have a passion for the as of right now “hobby” I have. I hope to go professional one day and be the best at it and maybe even design homes for the largest names around the world. Being able to show my skills motivates me to do more as I now even 3D print my home models which will also be placed in the blog. Having this blog really enables me to put myself out there and show others what I can do. Being recognized will show me that I’m not just that quiet kid at iTech, it will show me that I can achieve greatness and do anything I want.
